The
South Carolina Education Association (The SCEA) is the
professional association for educators in South Carolina. Educators
from pre-K to 12th grade comprise
The SCEA. Classroom teachers, guidance counselors,
librarians, principals, middle managers, superintendents as well as
bus drivers, teaching assistants, lunch room operators, maintenance
engineers, clerks and secretaries are members of The SCEA.
The Emphasis (periodical),
Legislative alert, and local newsletters are the printed membership
information vehicles. The Representative Assembly meets once a year. The
Representative Assembly is the governing body of
the Association. The Representatives are elected to represent all segments
of the educational community and association membership.
The leadership of The SCEA
is composed of a full time President (four-year term), a Vice
President (four-year term), Board of Directors and an Executive
Director. The headquarters staff is housed in Columbia and the field
staff is located in Charleston, Conway, Rock
Hill, Laurens and Spartanburg.

South Carolina.
The SCEA provides
instructional development, technology innovation, recertification
assistance, legal services, political action, legislative
