OFFICIAL STATEMENT

DECEMBER 1, 2020 - While The SCEA has not played any role in organizing, facilitating, or encouraging today’s activities, we recognize the ability of teachers to exercise their independent decisions as it relates to the health and safety of themselves and the children about whom they care so much. We understand the frustration and disillusionment that teachers are feeling as they feel unheard by the Lexington/Richland 5 School Board. The SCEA urges the Lexington/Richland 5 School Board to listen to educators and ensure the safety of every student and educator. It would be shameful for the School Board to take action that jeopardizes the safety and well-being of students, educators, and administrators now.
